You do not pay this agency. Your money never passes through this office. It goes straight to whoever is flying you, housing you, sailing you or guiding you, and it sits there. Anything coming back therefore comes from them, under rules they wrote.

No agency can move a deadline it did not set, forgive a charge it does not collect, or hand back a sum it never held. Anyone who says otherwise is selling you something.

What that means at each stage

While you are thinking: Nothing is owed, nothing is taken, and walking away costs you nothing. We do not chase
The moment you agree: Their rules begin, in full, exactly as printed in your proposal
The first payment: Their number, usually kept if you withdraw, usually collected on the day you agree
The rest of it: Between sixty and ninety days ahead on most of these trips
Past that day: Most of these suppliers keep most of it. On the small ship and at the camps, all of it
Swapping a name: Some allow it for a charge, some will not entertain it

What happens when your party shrinks

This is where cancellation stops being generic, because this catalog is filed by who is coming.

A trip priced for two: The room was priced whole. One person leaving does not halve it, and the one still going usually carries nearly all of it
A trip priced for a family: A room sold to hold four does not get cheaper when three arrive. The figure per head climbs and the total does not fall
A trip priced for a group: Below the number the page prints, the group rate stops. On the small ship that number is eight; at the camps it is six. Everybody remaining pays the difference
A trip you booked alone: Nothing shifts, because your booking never leaned on anybody else. That is what the supplement bought you

When the supplier calls it off

Their rules decide what is owed, and those rules reached you before you committed. This office will pursue it, keep every message, and say bluntly when we think you are being handled badly. Writing the check is the one part we cannot do.

Four things you will not be told here

That cancellation is flexible: The deadlines are somebody else's. Claiming to bend them describes a power this office does not hold
That your money comes back whatever happens: Same reason
That changes are free: Same reason
That cover would fix it: Nothing of that kind is arranged here, and whether you carry any is a decision to make elsewhere
